Balance and Core

Good balance skills are very important for Martial Artists - steady high kicks without falling on your ass will be very effective and cool looking. For Capoeristas in particular as all the kicks can be done on a very high speed, as well as handstands and different kinds of arm balances.
If you are not a Martial Arts practitioner - training your balance is even more important as you don´t train it at all by practising the kicks.

With age you start loosing the balancing skills even more so working on it becomes more and more important with time.

What about strength training?
Working on your balance - on one leg as well as on arms you work a lot on your deep and stabilising muscles making them stronger and bigger - you can´t do it with usual gym equipment, squats and heavy lifting - as you must be stable for the safety reasons in this cases.
So you should train your balancing skills separately - with no weight, with light weights or with your bodyweight.

What about core?

Working on your balance also involves big work of the deep core muscles which gives you real functional strength. Remember, it´s not only about your legs or arms, but it means also a lot of core work, especially when we practice Arm Balances, they are actually the best for the deep muscles of your core as well as visible abs, back and shoulder muscles.
